CHATEAU DE CASTELBOUC

An imposing, monumental site, the castle and village of Castelbouc invite contemplation. The castle is perched on a pedestal, overlooking the village carved into the limestone rock.

Legend has it that in 1095, when all the lords and men-at-arms set off in search of the Tomb of Christ in Palestine, the lord stayed behind to hold the stronghold that is Castelbouc. After a few feats of arms, he won the favor of the local ladies, and did everything in his power to satisfy their desires, so much so that he eventually died.

After his death, a billy goat, a symbol of virility, appeared above the castle, then left for the horizon.

Old houses typical of the region, flower-filled lanes and a small pebble beach will let you enjoy the beauty of this site and the freshness of the Tarn.
