Saint-Laurent de Muret is a rural mountain commune typical of the Aubrac plateau. It includes 12 hamlets and 8 isolated houses.

The granite predominates on the vast majority of the territory of the commune. There are several interesting peaks here and there which reveal the volcanic origin of the plateau, such as the Pic de Mus (1324 m), a magnificent viewpoint with an orientation table on which stands the statue of Notre-Dame de la Montagne, or the truc de Muret which rises to 1244 m.
