MONTRODAT
Montrodat (originally Montroca, Monte Rocato, i.e. Mount of the Rock) was a viscount's domain. In the Middle Ages Montrodat was one of the twelve lordships which gave the entrance to the states of Gévaudan, there was a toll at its castle. The castle has left only a few traces: part of the rampart in the cellars of private individuals, remains of the tower behind the town hall and the stone coat of arms placed on its facade which dates from the 11th century.
Montrodat is now a pretty renovated village whose church is next to the pleasant square ideal for games of pétanque. It is surrounded by charming hamlets such as Inoce and its restored oven, Valadou and its breathtaking view of Marvejols, Bouldoire and its Saint-Jean chapel...
Around Montrodat you can see the pigeon house on the road to Rieutort.
Numerous walks or mountain bike rides lead you from the Coulagnet valley to the summit of the Truc du Midi (1000 m). You will come across many "chazelles" along the paths.
