LES HAMEAUX DE MENDE: BAHOURS, CHABRIT, CHABANNES, CHANTERUEJOLS, LE MAS

The five old villages that occupy the north-west of the commune have a high quality architectural heritage. Bahours, Chabrits, Chanteruejols, Le Mas and Chabannes, are home to houses of varying size, the oldest of which date from the second half of the 15th century.

Such is the case of Bahours, a simple linear hamlet made up of three farms with main building and outbuildings and a 17th century fortified house. Chabrits, Chanteruejols and Le Mas develop more amply in narrow streets along which the housing is aligned with courtyards and gardens enclosed by stone walls. Chabannes, which in the 20th century was the subject of pavilion extensions, the centre is made up of two large residences from the second half of the 15th century - early 16th century.

There are also common buildings: bread oven, railway crosses, ferradou, fountain-washer..
