LES BONDONS

The village of Les Bondons dominated by the famous "puechs" and menhirs of the Cham des Bondons is worth a visit for the architecture of its houses. The facades mark the meeting of the geological formations of the landscape where sandstone and limestone dominate

In the centre of the village you can also discover the St-Saturnin des Bondons church. Possession of the cathedral chapter of Mende since the 12th century, this modest church has preserved its Romanesque structure. A nave of two bays, with barrel vaulting, opens onto a hemicycle apse, whose lower vault is underlined by a band. On the outside, the facade has preserved a window with a Romanesque axis. The chevet presents a beautiful volume carefully fitted out. A square bell tower with twin bays served by a stair turret dominates the building (Text by Philippe Chambon)
