CENTRE HISTORIQUE DE CHIRAC

The village stretches from the banks of the Colagne to the foothills of the Aubrac and is made up of a rich historical and vernacular heritage scattered between the Rieu district, the places de la Tour, Montjezieu, Soun Chirac and the Pont de Colagne.

The village developed from 1062 around the Monastery Saint-Sauveur-de-Chirac and includes 16 villages and hamlets. Chirac made its wealth with the culture of saffron, vine and wool until the Second World War. The village extends from the banks of the Colagne to the foothills of Aubrac and is composed of a rich historical and vernacular heritage scattered between the Rieu district, the squares of the Tower, Montjezieu, Soun Chirac and the Colagne Bridge. In the commune, the agricultural activity of medium mountain is essentially based on the breeding and the production of milk. The village offers several services, shops and activities.
