Saturday May 30, the first day of the trip:
You'll take your place aboard our historic train, pulled by a 70's diesel locomotive type BB 67400. These compartment cars built between the 30's and the 70's will allow you to travel comfortably all day long.
Departure from Clermont-Fd station at around 6.30 a.m., and the journey begins, criss-crossing the Auvergne region. While enjoying our complimentary breakfast, relax? we'll take care of everything!
Our train serves the stations of Issoire, Brioude and Langeac before discovering the Gorges de l'Allier. This river has carved out majestic landscapes that can only be admired from the railroad line, which makes its way through the remarkable engineering structures built by the builders of long ago
Arrive at Langogne station at 9:40 a.m., heading for Nîmes with stops at Génolhac and Alès.
As the kilometers go by, you'll see the landscape change, with coniferous trees giving way to deciduous trees and more southern vegetation. We're approaching Nîmes, la Romaine, and it's almost midday!
Sunday May 31, the second day of our trip:
For the return journey, we're changing our mode of traction!
You'll see the 140 C 27 steam locomotive that will take our train all the way to the capital of Auvergne. In the morning light, the landscape opens up to us as we make our way up the long climb along the famous Cévennes line.
at 12.30 pm, we arrive in LANGOGNE!
On site, we offer a full meal (starter, main course, cheese, dessert, wine and coffee) at the Table de Bistou.
You can also discover the Millenium town by wandering from alley to alley, discovering our heritage, including the Calquières Spinning Mill Museum, until 3.45pm, after the locomotive has also refueled, our train will then continue its (iron!) journey through the Allier Gorges and drop you off where you got on the day before. Arrival in Clermont-Ferrand at around 9pm marks the end of a wonderful weekend in the Cévennes.
