The Temple of Pompidou was built in the middle of the 19th century. It is a very sober and large building. We notice its bell tower, its unusual weathervane, an angel of the Apocalypse which gives the building an unexpected gravity recalling the Day of Judgment. The frame of the entrance door with two Doric columns and a triangular pediment is also remarkable, in the neo-Gothic style.* The current Temple replaced the one located higher up which was "demolished to the foundations" in 1685, by order of the King.
*Inside, the preaching pulpit is beautifully crafted and registered as a Historic Monument.
