EGLISE SAINT-PIERRE - FONTANS

The church of Saint-Pierre de Fontans is of Romanesque style and is listed as a Historic Monument. Its particularity lies in its mural paintings which cover the ceiling of the building and which were completely restored at the end of the 20th century. In front of the church there is a magnificent flower-decorated cross known as the bubble cross dated 1823.

The church of Saint-Pierre de Fontans has its origins in the Romanesque period, although it was rebuilt during the Gothic period. Listed as a Historic Monument, it has a remarkable group of murals with figurative, geometric and vegetal motifs that cover all the ceilings of the building. Entirely restored at the end of the 20th century, they represent religious references

In front of the church there is a magnificent flower-decorated cross known as a bubble cross, dated 1823. On the obverse is a Christ on the cross and on the reverse is a Virgin and Child.
