The parish church of Saint-Michel is a superb Romanesque church located in the heart of the village of La Garde-Guérin, at the foot of the medieval keep of the castle
It has a single nave completed by a polygonal apse. This one is decorated with blind arcatures in full arch resting on small columns with sculpted capitals
The architecture of the triumphal arch is based on an original system: two superimposed pilasters flanked by monolithic columns form the double arches
In addition, numerous sculpted motifs decorate the capitals (human figures, stylized foliage, scrolls, billets) which constitutes an exceptional ensemble in Lozere
The church could be endowed with a crypt which would shelter, according to some, the tombs of the lords of the Garde-Guérin.
