📍 La Malène
EGLISE ROMANE SAINT-JEAN-BAPTISTE
Like the monastic churches, the Malène can boast of its three naves. It was probably the monks of Sainte-Enimie who built it in the 12th century. The central nave, with its barrel vaulting, divided into three bays by rectangular double doors, is supported by four enormous pillars. The semi-circular apse, with a cul-de-four, is opened through three fan-shaped windows. It is flanked by two apses, crowning the side naves. On the outside, the apse is five-sided; the arched portal dates from 1601. A chapel was added in the middle of the last century, on the north side of the building; it contains the remains of the "Martyrs of the Malène", executed in 1793.
