Pope Urban V was born in 1310 in the castle of Grizac (Pont de Montvert). He decided, by a papal bull to build the Collegiate Church of Bedoues to house the remains of the family of Grimoard, his parents in 1363.the collegiate church was built in schist, following the shape of a Latin cross, Following the destruction of the wars of religion in 1580, it was rebuilt with smaller dimensions, and a shape of Greek cross.

The ensemble was divided into two distinct parts, the church, dedicated to the Virgin, and above it the canons' house. Other troubles occurred during the revolutionary period.
