PLATEAU DE LA CHAM

The Cham plateau overlooks Marvejols and is a real invitation to take a stroll. A remarkable landscape criss-crossed by drystone walls, "chazelles" and paths that form a puzzle of small agricultural plots. Since Neolithic times, man has inhabited and worked this land, moving its stones. It's difficult to date the walls and chazelles precisely, as each generation has played its part in this process

Overlooking Marvejols, the Cham plateau is an invitation to take a stroll. A remarkable landscape criss-crossed by drystone walls, "chazelles" and paths forming a jigsaw puzzle of small agricultural plots. Since Neolithic times, man has inhabited and worked this land, moving its stones. The walls and chazelles are difficult to date precisely, as each generation has contributed to their construction. From the 12th century onwards, the plateau began to take on the appearance it has today.

Whatever the season, the plateau is a popular Sunday stroll for locals, with its labyrinth of paths that sometimes merge with the stone walls.

Depending on how steep the paths are, you'll see the Trucs du Midi and St Bonnet appear and disappear.

Enjoy the magnificent view of Marvejols, the Belle du Gévaudan, at the start and finish. At the end of the day, wait until dusk and take the time to see it in all its finery.
