MUSEE DUGUESCLIN

The Du Guesclin Museum presents images, objects and testimonies of the figure and mission of du Guesclin against the English in the summer of 1380.

On the main square of the village, a museum dedicated to the figure of du Guesclin has been created. A discovery of the great Constable and his time through objects, models and pictures

During the Hundred Years' War, du Guesclin was commissioned by King Charles V to chase the English roaders out of some southern regions such as Auvergne but also in Gévaudan. He arrived in June 1380 to besiege the castle of Châteauneuf-de-Randon occupied by the English. According to the legend, du Guesclin died after drinking water that was too cold at the Glauze fountain on 13 or 4 July 1380. The besieged surrendered after a fortnight, after the death of the Constable.

A monument with his recumbent remains is located at the bottom of the village on the edge of the N88.
