MUSÉE DU GÉVAUDAN

Witness of the history of Lozere, the Museum of Gévaudan invites you to travel between culture and nature. In the heart of the city of Mende, from the first testimonies of life until today, you dive into a place of life, discovery, sharing and conviviality.

Open since 2022, the Musée du Gévaudan is a regional museum that is open to the outside world. It is free of charge, in order to promote accessibility for as many people as possible, public loyalty and the circular economy.

It is a multi-faceted cultural facility, bringing together :

- a Musée de France,

- the Centre d?interprétation de l?architecture et du patrimoine du Pays d?art et d?histoire Mende, Gévaudan & Mont-Lozère,

- a living space with a lounge, book and game room, seed library, store and coffee corner...

Located in the heart of Mende, the building includes 17th-century heritage spaces such as the Hôtel de Ressouches and the Salle des Vertus. The collections cover a wide range of disciplines: archaeology, fine arts, natural sciences, ethnology, contemporary art? They cover all eras, from the earliest traces of life to the 21st century.

Over a hundred events are held each year, including a major temporary exhibition.
