The Lozerian part of the Margeride massif represents a territory of nearly 30,000 hectares of forests and lakes. This area is notably home to: the dwarf birch, the Pelias viper, the European otter, the aquatic shrew... Its ecological particularities and natural resources make it a protected and recognized area.

The Margeride is a granite plateau (1200 to 1500 m altitude)
