LE PIC DE MUS

The Pic de Mus is a basaltic chimney located in the heart of a basaltic plateau not far from the village of Saint-Laurent-de-Muret. At the top of the Pic at an altitude of 1,327 m, next to the statue of the Virgin (pilgrimage of Our Lady of the Mountain), you have a 360-degree view.

The Pic de Mus is a basaltic chimney located in the heart of a basaltic plateau not far from the village of Saint-Laurent-de-Muret. At the top of the Pic at an altitude of 1,327 m, next to the statue of the Virgin (pilgrimage of Our Lady of the Mountain), you will admire the 360-degree view.

Conical in shape and in an elevated position on a bulge in the granitic bedrock, the Mus peak can be seen from very far away, but it is not a summit with significant differences in height, at most 150 to 200 m to the south towards Saint-Laurent and 120 m to the north towards Sinières.

Discover this emblematic Peak of Aubrac by following the paths of a short hike of 4.2 km (round trip), 150 m of positive difference in altitude in 1h30 to take your eyes full of it!

How to get there

Access to the summit from the village of St-Laurent de Muret (parking lot above the war memorial) or from the D900 (more difficult access)
