Mont-Lozère is a particularly rich granite spine included in the heart of the Cévennes National Park.
It is the largest continuous area of pseudo-alpine grasslands in the southern Massif Central. Mont Lozère is recognized
for the presence of several species and environments that find their only locality between the Alps and the Pyrenees. There are
a strong contrast between windy lawns and wet and peaty areas in depressions (basin heads, flats),
which is well reflected in the name "dry mountain with a thousand bogs". In the rocky environments of the cirque of Gourdouzes
sub-Mediterranean flora and relict plants of glacial origin coexist.
