LE BAOU DE L'ESTIVAL
This exceptional site is natural and isolated, more than 1 km from any dwelling (Tiracols in the West or Lestival in the East), and not easily accessible by vehicle. The remarkable landscapes of this site are the granite lock with a pretty 3m waterfall, the flat-bottomed valley, and the wooded slopes. Source: DREAL Languedoc-Roussillon, April 2007.
The Margeride plateau is maintained around 1000m of altitude, presenting a succession of hills with rounded shapes, separated by generally shallow, flat-bottomed valleys.
The landscape of the Baou valley is very picturesque, punctuated by the flow of the Truyère river, sometimes peaceful through the flat green meadows, sometimes violent and bubbling between the granite blocks with rounded contours and covered with mosses.
