GORGES DU CHASSEZAC
The Chassezac gorges form a remarkable landscape of granitic rocky outcrops and the river.
Situated between the Cévennes to the south and the Margeride to the north, the Chassezac gorges offer a wide variety of landscapes. With a canyon over 7 km long and a vertical drop of 400 m at the Belvédère de la Garde Guérin, the Chassezac is characterized by its rugged terrain, which for a long time gave the gorges the name of "the Devil's lair". To admire the immensity of the site, you need to go to the Belvedere to the north of La Garde Guérin. The roar of the water, the steep slopes and the rocky spurs offer a grandiose spectacle.
This site has been classified as a "Unité Touristique de Pleine Nature".
Before entering the gorges, please make sure you are aware of any current closures or openings.
