DARGILAN SUR LE CAUSSE NOIR (COTATION BLEU)
A loop that alternates between wooded and cultivated areas, typical of the Causse Noir. A stop at the Dargilan cave is a must.
The hamlet of Dargilan gave its name to the cave below the village, overlooking the Jonte gorges. It was discovered by a shepherd in 1880 and explored
by Edouard-Alfred Martel in 1888. The cave is exceptional for its size, diversity and the quality of its concretions. You'll also discover
forests of Scots pine, the dominant species on the Causse Noir, which the Romans exploited for its resin. The Causse Noir straddles three départements (Lozère, Gard and Aveyron).
