Nestled at an average altitude of 1,250 metres, the Salhiens, Saint-Andéol, Born and Souveyrols lakes form a unique natural ensemble in the Bès watershed. Although they range in size from 1.6 to 11 hectares, these four volcanic gems share a similar wilderness character: dark waters bordered by jagged, treeless shores, where the spongy, shifting ground calls for caution.
This preserved biotope is a sanctuary for aquatic fauna, offering a rich and varied fish population. Classified as first category, these lakes are a delight for anglers, who flush out fario and rainbow trout, pike, perch, chub and minnow in a typical plateau setting.
