ROC DE FENESTRE

The rock of Fenestre is one of the peaks of the Margeride

It culminates at an altitude of 1,486 m in the commune of La Panouse and offers a panoramic view over the whole of Margeride: the Signal de Randon, the Truc de Fortunio, but also Mount Lozère, the Velay, Mount Mézenc, the Aubrac and, on a clear day, the Alps and, it is said, Mount Blanc. The roc de Fenestre offers a panorama over seven departments

An enamelled lava orientation table was erected in 1995; it was made by Marie-Noëlle Lapouge.

No tarmac road allows access to the summit of the Roc de Fenestre. However, the ascent to the summit can be done on foot, topos guides are on sale at the Tourist Office of Grandrieu, different hikes to discover the Roc are proposed.
