To the south of the Cévennes, Mont-Aigoual and its observatory rise to an altitude of 1,565 metres.

The second-highest summit in Lozère after Finiels (1,699 m ) in Mont-Lozère, Mont-Aigoual is remarkable for the beauty of its panorama and scenery.
