LES DETROITS

This is the most typical part of the Tarn gorges. The valley becomes a simple corridor between gigantic walls which plunge steeply into the river. It is the narrowest part of the canyon. From La Malène, you can go down by boat through the straits to the cirque des Baumes (with the boatmen of La Malène). You can also do this descent by canoe. Some marvels can be admired.
