TOUR DE L'HORLOGE
The clock towers, bell towers and other belfries equipped with monumental clockwork are all evidence of the daily life of thousands of Lozériens. The belfry of Collet-de-Dèze, which rises above the village, is surmounted by an elegant bell tower and decorated with a balcony. Its current clock, which is always present in the belfry, is from 1888.
The clock towers, bell towers and other belfries with their monumental clockwork bear witness to the daily lives of thousands of Lozériens, punctuated by these regular chimes. An integral part of our common heritage, these clock mechanisms, some of which still resonate in village centers, are the fruit of complex mechanics and great expertise.
The Collet-de-Dèze belfry, which rises above the village, is topped by an elegant bell tower and embellished by a balcony.
Its current clock, still in the belfry, dates from 1888, when the village mayor signed a contract with the clockmaker in Saint-Germain-de-Calberte for a "good clock with an external dial". Equipped with a triangular mechanism, it stands on a base measuring 61cm long by 26cm wide.
