Saint-Julien d'Arpaon : Montcalm Castle
Charming Cevennes village overlooking the river Mimente, where the impressive wall sections of a castle stand. Mentioned in the 13th century, it was the possession of the lords of Anduze who held the barony of Florac. Dismantled at the beginning of the 17th century, it was inherited by the de Montcalm family in the 18th century, a Rouergate family who owned several properties in Gévaudan which restored it. Abandoned and abandoned, it will be used among other things as a stone quarry to build the houses of the hamlet.
