HÔTEL DE VILLE DE MARVEJOLS

In the Middle Ages and in modern times, Marvejols was a royal town closely linked to the power of the King of France. In 1680, its consuls, royal officers responsible for dispensing justice in Gévaudan and the Hautes Cévennes, needed a safe and convenient building. They therefore purchased a building in the rue Droite (now av. Savorgnan de Brazza), which served as both a courtroom and a courthouse

In 1680, its consuls, royal officers responsible for dispensing justice in Gévaudan and the Hautes Cévennes, needed a safe and convenient building. They therefore purchased a building in the Rue Droite (today's Av. Savorgnan de Brazza), which served as a consular hall, state hall, courtroom and prison.

Today, this imposing building, which has undergone many alterations and was the focal point of various administrative, judicial and prison activities, is the Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall)
