CHATEAU DE MONTIALOUX

The oldest parts, the surrounding wall, the round tower of the dwelling and the chapel of Saint-Jean could date from the 12th century. The successive terraces on which it is built are perhaps an indication of the presence of a second enclosure

To the north is a square tower used as a dovecote, to the east a covered passage with a barrel vault leads to the front door of the courtyard. The large main building occupies the entire south side

The castle seems to have been inhabited until 1786. The dwelling also bears signs of late 17th or early 18th century layout, notably the remains of a large stairway

It is already mentioned in ruins during a sale in 1932

Access is fairly easy but it is perilous to enter the ruins. The view over the Nize and Bramont valleys is however worth approaching the site.
